Your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a health-care benefit provided by your employer. There is no cost to you. This is a voluntary and confidential service, to help you and your immediate family members with personal concerns that may be affecting your personal well-being and/or work performance.

Synergy is the EAP provider for a number of regional employers, providing EAP counseling through service agreements with many National third-party Employee Assistance Programs – contact your Human Resources Department or EAP Manager to see if we are a provider for your employer.

EAP counseling provides short-term, problem-solving counseling to help you work through life-changes and challenges, address work and/or personal stressors, and clarify your short and long-term goals. Your EAP typically provides from three (3) to six (6) sessions per year, or per incident. Check with your EAP Manager or Human Resources Department for information on your employer Health Care EAP Benefits.

Often, only a few sessions are needed to resolve concerns. If longer-term or more specialized services are needed, your EAP Counselor will assist you in identifying and accessing local resources.

EAP Counseling can help with issues including:

  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Stress management
  • Communication skills
  • Alcohol and other drug use
  • Gambling problems
  • Managing chronic medical concerns
  • Coping with grief and loss
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Marital and family concerns
  • Work-Life Balance
  • Workplace effectiveness, and
  • Job satisfaction

Your EAP is available to help you effectively manage challenges that life may bring. We all are faced with difficult challenges at points in our life, and at times we can benefit from the help of a counselor. By using your EAP counseling benefits, you can access short term counseling without using your comprehensive health insurance which typically includes costs for deductibles and co-pays.
