The Department of Transportation regulates alcohol and drug policies in certain safety-sensitive professions including natural gas pipeline employees, airlines, railroad and over-the-road trucking employees. Individuals found in violation of DOT alcohol and other drug policies are required to undergo Evaluation by a D.O.T. Qualified Substance Abuse Professional, to follow intervention and treatment recommendations, and to complete a Return-to-Duty Assessment prior to returning to work.
